Our plenary speaker, Jan Raska is from Pier 21 and will be sharing with us what the immigration experience was like for our ancestors when they arrived in Canada.
Pier 21 is an amazing place and one that you definitely want to spend time at while you are in Halifax. Pier 21 has an immigration museum which details the wave of immigrants and immigrant groups that have come to call Canada home since before Confederation. The immigrants groups that have come in recent years as well are also showcased.
There is also the Pier 21 exhibit which shows what our ancestors went through when they arrived in Canada.
And there is always a rotating exhibit. For the whole of 2017, there will be a series of exhibits pertaining to the 150th anniversary of Canada.
Pier 21 has a research room where you can look at the immigration records they have in their collections.
